What is LAMPIT and why it is used?

Lampit is nifurtimox-containing tablets. Nifurtimox is classified as an antiprotozoal drug used to treat Chagas disease which is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi.

Active ingredient of Lampit is Nifurtimox.

LAMPIT Contraindications

Patients who have a known hypersensitivity to nifurtimox or any of the excipients in LAMPIT, as well as patients who consume alcohol during therapy, should not use these tablets.

Is it safe in pregnancy?

When given to a pregnant woman, it can harm the fetus.

Genetotoxicity

Lampit is genotoxic in humans, in vitro in mammalian cell systems and a variety of bacterial species, and in vivo in rodents.

According to a study, the cytogenetic effect of nifurtimox in pediatric Chagas disease patients aged 7 months to 14 years revealed a 13-times increase in chromosomal abnormalities.
